utterance-id1 [noise] <unk> languages and the people who create i'm george carlin because um various things including the fact that uh my wife had a baby very reason they we weren't really able to get a full episode outpouring january quite yet so i'm going to be doing a couple of short this month and the first one he's today going to be all about <unk> but before we get to that i went to um uh quickly tell people uh first of all um there's a <unk> article out that i wrote um that i will linked to in the show notes uh it's all about uh my decisions regarding my room <unk> uh uh my current con link project which i'm for now calling middle <unk> uh so that might be of interest to some people to see you know what my process was <unk> and also i was sort of laying out <unk> in terms of uh what i've already uh put out in a block coached a long time ago about um [noise] what kinds of design parameters are involved when you're designing ruined his <unk> system so that uh the other thing uh december seventeenth was the date that my daughter was born maria ray correlate so that's awesome thing that is taking up all of my life right now and i just want to celebrate that okay so now moving on if you don't know what like september is uh this is a a a con lane event uh during the month of december a bunch of <unk> each create one new word in a con lying and uh posted it on line <unk> some people do several new words but um i did just one and uh uh uh slipped several times in in ah in the dates but generally you try to get one at least one word for each day in december and you share it on line so people were sharing this on <unk> on um google plus all of that and uh from the camaraderie account i was retreating and re blocking the toddler post so uh i've been looking through a bunch of them and i have picked out you had some things that i kind of like two would like to um point out now the first couple i'm not going to spend a whole lot of time on because it's more about the visual aspect so um twitter user <unk> uh and i apologize if i'm i'm pronouncing that incorrect late uh is um one of the people that did a lot of visual stuff so what he did or she i don't i don't quite ah no ah or the day is uh basically created sort of calligraphy in their con script for each of the words and then they posted the image drunk quarter so that's a nice thing you can do uh i'm you know link to one particular um example uh shouldn't jar means to uh <unk> means to endure in <unk> and so um [noise] i will just linked to that image there was another one that i really like um [noise] uh is uh uh the toddler blog uh as oh they loan learning uh what are they learning um and uh the discount on your also had um actually you know photo pulled out a poll photos i don't know where they got the the photos from and they have like the entry laid out with um native script ah <unk> hi p._a. pronunciation and definition so all linked to their word um uh <unk> <unk> <unk> <unk> <unk> <unk> uh <unk> okay crunch [noise] so that's um and and they also put in an example on each one so uh they laid out the whole definition in late nice little ritual thing and that's something you don't really have to do for <unk> but um i always like to see you know the people who have create little like definition cards or do some sort of calligraphy or something it's it's it's a fun little extra piece to it so moving on these are some things i'm going to point out that are um they do did little extra things or had an interesting ah take on things that i wanted to go over uh so <unk> one thing about all of his um his like september and trees is they all were long dictionary and trees with multiple sentences um senses um several uh uh most of most of them had many different senses sense is you know uh there's uh you know between like three and five usually uh the one that i'm going to link to here has actually seven cents is so um [noise] um it dotty <unk> set a true or yes that's the trail you tolerate um is a physical obstacle preventing travel uh especially in water so um it can also be circumstances which prevent progress uh pit doug to trap gamer enemies that's a nice one tip to pair with the obstacles um crippling doubt or overwhelming uncertainty ah and he was uh it refers to finding oneself in a state without press them having no idea what to do next [laughter] um and uh he mentioned that that um uh <unk> since <unk> meaning had happened after um contact with another people ah and in kept a religious thought the <unk> stage in the process of dying so uh i don't know much about is <unk> world but presumably uh this having relation to obstacles and traps maybe this is something to do with um as you are close to death they use that part of this religion is that you have to overcome something maybe it's some sort of like an ordeal type idea uh this stage in um in the men's initiation meant to imitate stage in six i think he might have <unk> five uh meaning the process of dying and then the new moon following a matter of for the nights sky is the river of death in the moon is it's <unk> so again more related to the the death stuff but that but the main thing i want to get across with highlighting that example is here we have seven different senses of one word and they have you can sort of see where these multiple meanings are coming from [noise] uh and that's you know that makes it feel more like a realistic were if you look in any decent dictionary lots of words are going to have three or four cents is a lot of them will have more so when you're doing <unk> do understand that it's very realistic and for a lot of your words would have multiple senses multiple meanings uh i um try to do that but i'm not always successful i don't always follow through on making lots of different meanings for words so that's a good point that ah they're here's another example um from uh the uh uh <unk> uh language uh um uh i'm not gonna last thirty lee smashed sadly you saw the is the name of his blog and ah this was from may twenty two [noise] um he had you to <unk> uh <unk> uh which um he was inspired by christmas eve dinner to to to make a word for scalding hot right uh so he actually uh so he has to be hot to the point of causing injury so scalding basically to be boiling uh and then it's all this is also a trans divert to boil something uh or to prepare something for eating not necessarily be you're boiling so so it can just be generally cooking again a bunch of related senses collected together and that's a very long full dictionary injury um this is this this is a smaller one but i wanted to point this out so uh twitter user d. moon fire did the whole like summer doing units of measurement which is a really interesting uh idea to do um i have a few units of measurement but i know in in my uh own kind like project but i haven't really defined what they are and this is something that he actually defined so uh uh the the one i <unk> <unk> is the very first one he that he did or not the very first but one of the early early like september and trees that he had a kick out ah there's no hi p._a. so i'm assuming i pronounce human rights <unk> uh the amount of displacement of an adult woman's fish so this is a um a unit of volume and uh and he said out of world that's uh about three hundred five middle leaders and uh from my conversation with him earlier apparently he actually uh his his his wife helped him to measure that so that's uh a fun little thing and all of his units of measure he actually did like come up with appropriate <unk> missions and er metric so that's uh just an interesting little tit bit moving on uh one of my favorite thing is to see words that reveal something about the culture um that you see saw that a little bit in the last uh word um obviously with this guy um for my conversation nut guys culture she's women as being more precise so it makes sense that there there are <unk> would have something to do with a union volume uh but he also mentioned that there would be another word that is a man's fish that's used for measuring one so that's so that's an interesting little cultural tibet another place where i saw not just cultural but biological ones <unk> and um psychological differences was in the uh the standard tyrone ian blog ah or the person tariq ah commission on interest speller cooperation uh and the one at a link to right now is uh number sixteen and it's all about limbs so this is a language for aliens and there's even things that humans can't pronounce and the language sounds they can't pronounce but they have different um body structure ah they're called <unk> ah because i presume they're from from the ah some <unk> system uh and so um ah um morocco i actually i physically can't pronounce that correctly but that's as close as i can get is four lamb and then ah i'll just give up i'm not gonna worry about pronouncing these because some of them are not possible so there's a separate word for four limb uh for the middle limbs since they have six limbs and for the the hind limbs [noise] and then there's a word for the tail and eat mentions that <unk> the the sanitary often have tails and then um the general word for a limb also includes a tail so that's an interesting thing there's a lot of other interesting uh things that are on that blog um all of his terms that he pointed to that have to do with uh social relationships like friends and family terms he made a mention of <unk> having different social psychology than humans that prevents them from having long term bonds with people who are not immediately nearby so that's an interesting um a little thing there's there there were a lot of interesting things that came out and there's just all of the words are always these little um asides in the blog post mentioning how things are different for the <unk> because of their alien this uh there's from the blog ah i i'm assuming this is uh caution and other languages uh these these often had lots of animal logical information so this this uh this <unk> went uh on and talk to about all sorts of different um uh all sorts of at um a logical information so the um [noise] i'm not going to go through this whole definition i'm looking to uh the word uh there's several different um forms here <unk> uh <unk> <unk> <unk> ah i guess how she <unk> i don't know if i'm just saying it was right but um meaning like to come out to real personal information to making mass meant but uh it's it's says okay this is descended from the common cashing in uh <unk> uh uh had a very specific meaning <unk> coming of age uh there's talking about folk etymology in here is very um detailed and i can't get go all the way into it but um [noise] i i i realize a lot of his uh a lot of this blogger <unk> and trees um a lot of their injuries were uh like this and that they had this logical history worked out for the word another one uh from uh <unk> a uh <unk> uh the the word is <unk> um and they say it's it's drive it's based on the word <unk> or i or iraq probably uh maybe for spark and the the word triggering aggravating causing inspiring or subverting <unk> [noise] and the the interesting thing on this century and is that this this this <unk> like to do this this <unk> like to do um derived words from the route that they just created so underneath the the <unk> there's uh <unk> uh cause cause upheaval disturbance destruction uh action revolution ah <unk> <unk> <unk> who's a new state uh <unk> revolutionary <unk> conservative constant uh i presume there's some sort of a negative element in there <unk> conservation <unk> ah <unk> very political conservative so the <unk> seems to be some sort of opposite and then other words that are related to us to have a lot to do with like revolution or or um or um you know upheaval um opposing ah and then the the the <unk> news conserving conservative ah so that's that was an interesting uh one to be looking at when when all of these ah when whenever i saw this when pop up on my dash and finally i have one final word that i went to share avalon in the storm ah <unk> at cost us very be uh had uh a a word in his n._c._a._a. on uh the twenty were third yet they're sunny meaning <unk> um [noise] i might actually set it might might more appropriately beep <unk> but it's a very simple word and there's not a whole lot of information on this <unk> just it was just the <unk> with the the word and the meaning but the thing i like is that yes your con laying [noise] should have some words that describe language itself so that is a very good thing to have now you know you you can decide how you want to do that and um you know what what the con cultures you know linguistic tradition is or <unk> or or a grammatical tradition is but uh it's nice to have see that that kind of thing happened um there were around fifteen hundred tweaked during <unk> although um let's see uh about uh close to eight hundred of those were retreats and then there were also some uh some that were had the <unk> tags that weren't actually we're so maybe about seven hundred individual words were treated out for like summer i don't have uh stats for any other platforms and my twitter numbers maybe ah low because i don't know if uh the script i was running captured all but uh so that gives you an idea of not a huge event but pretty good for for the small community um and uh i hope all of you participate next year and uh i plan to uh be doing another short this month that can tell you a little bit about what to do after <unk> 'cause uh i would like to sort of talked about like what what other things can you do there there's already people like trying to plot out the whole year with with ah with daily <unk> events which i don't know if that's the solution but i have some ideas about what you can do with the words that you've already created [noise] make them to just start improving them so with that [noise] i'll see you next time and i'm going to say happy online [noise] thank you for listening to on line [noise] you could find are are tied some show notes pass time lying or you're not tough [noise] support us unpatriotic patriotic dot com slash on line or [noise] you can also find this on face both litter and <unk> and if you would like to hear your online featured on the top of the show [noise] you could look at our [noise] privy to pay has the truck or what you translate outta sent [noise] <unk> face it provided by two languages creation society and our music is by no divider [noise]
